Data aggregation has been proposed as a temporal or special data gathering procedure to save energy and reduce contention in WSNs. In terms of data aggregation, every sensor node takes data correlation into consideration, it means nodes can exchange the information with their own previous data and their neighbours and then, the related information will be aggregated together to achieve the purpose of low traffic and low energy consuming. Based on many works involving data aggregaiton function, we are motivated to provide guidelines for existing aggregation functions.
