For the practical design of Cognitive Radios (CRs) which are required to have the both abilities to sense the surrounding spectral environment and flexibly adapt its transceiver parameters to optimize the radio link, seeking a high flexible and reconfigurable wideband radio transceiver is always a big challenge. Here, we propose a radio transceiver: Full-Duplex Dual-Band OFDM radio transceiver which can simultaneously transmit and receive two different kind of signals. The proposed radio transceiver could “double” the physical capacity of the Full-Duplex wireless and “four times” the capacity of the conventional wireless link. Beyond the benefit of physical capacity, the radio architecture can potentially enable the radio terminals to carry out spectrum channel sensing and handover while it is transmitting and receiving. The proposed radio transceiver is theoretically demonstrated and the performance is evaluated by using ADS-Matlab co-simulations.
